  3. In LA, California they recently announced that they are starting the first stage of a five-year plan to build a large wildlife corridor. One of the biggest. The goal is to build a natural looking bridge, over highway 101, that allows a small population of cougars to escape north into larger public lands from the Santa Monica Mountain National Recreation. Also have mountain lions move south. The estimated cost of the project is about $57 million!

  4. This Florida Wildlife Corridor's is focusing on connecting, protecting, and restoring corridors of conserved lands and waters essential for the survival of Florida's diverse wildlife. •The Corridor provides habitat for 42 federally listed endangered species, 24 threatened species and 15 candidate species. Other facts are there are 992 named rivers and streams crossing the Corridor that include 1150 miles of designated paddling trails. There are also 920 miles of the Florida National Scenic Trail within the Corridor.

  5. Kwakuchinja Corridor
The Kwakuchinja corridor between Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park is important for maintaining the biodiversity in East African Woodland Savannah where the corridor resides. It provides crucial habitat for over 380 bird species. Lake Manyara provides habitat for migratory wildlife. Wetlands throughout the corridor sustain critical components that keep the biodiversity in order. One of the most important parts of the corridor is it is a path in which allows over a thousand animals to migrate across Africa.

  6. the Florida Wildlife Corridor advocates for the protection of the missing links needed to connect conservation lands in the Corridor. Their goal is to protect, and restore corridors on conserved lands and waters essential for the survival of Florida's diverse wildlife. It is located from the Florida Glades to the Gulf. The major species they are protecting are the Florida Black Bear and the Florida panther.

  8. "The TransCanada Highway cuts across Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, fragmenting critical habitat and creating a large barrier to movement for wildlife. To facilitate individual movement, especially of large, wide-ranging species such as grizzly bears, wolverines, and elk, man-made overpasses and underpasses were constructed to span the highway and funnel individuals from one side to the other. While some species take a long time to begin using these structures, they ultimately provide a critical connection between fragmented forests and allow for continued gene flow between populations. In addition, road closures and the removal of man-made structures have allowed natural corridors to re-emerge within the region." (http://conservationcorridor.org/) Megan and Mitchell

  10. Located in the Netherlands, the goal of the Natuurbrug Zanderij Crailoo Wildlife Corridor is to provide a safe passage for animals trying to cross major roadways. The corridors wildlife bridges are designed to enable the native deer population, wild boar, and the European Badger to cross safely over busy roads. -Christa

the focus of wild life corridors are not to lock animals in but to provide a safe haven for many animals like the 29 species of special concern in the Florida corridors the way that they accomplish this is by removing obstacles including fallen trees and rocks also there is no hunting in them which prevents over hunting permanent protection of animals and to reduce and fill the clearings

A wildlife corridor is a link of wildlife
    habitat, generally native vegetation, which
joins two or more larger areas of similar
wildlife habitat. Corridors are critical for
    the maintenance of ecological processes
including allowing for the movement of
animals and the continuation of viable
    populations.
    By providing landscape connections
between larger areas of habitat, corridors
    enable migration, colonisation and
    interbreeding of plants and animals.
Corridors can consist of a sequence of
    stepping stones across the landscape
(discontinuous areas of habitat such as
    paddock trees, wetlands and roadside
    vegetation), continuous lineal strips of
vegetation and habitat (such as riparian
strips, ridge lines etc.), or they maybe parts
of a larger habitat area selected for its
known or likely importance to local fauna

The corridor that I researched was the corridor in India called the Siju-Rewak corridor. This corridor works with the World Land Trust organization.(WLT)The WLT organization is a safeguard for traditional elephant routes so that elephants can move safely between national parks, reservations and other protected areas. This specific corridor(the Siju-Rewak corrridor)also contains one of the only four crossings for elephants along the Sinsang river.

The object of biodiversity is to mate other families of animals with different bodies of animals. This will protect the animals from interbreeding which will end bad.

Threats:threats as a result of human activities. The main dangers worldwide are population growth and resource consumption, climate change and global warming, habitat conversion and urbanization, invasive alien species, over-exploitation of natural resources and environmental degradation.

Benifits: boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no matter how small, all have an important role to play. For example, A larger number of plant species means a greater variety of crops. Greater species diversity ensures natural sustainability for all life forms.

  15. Florida's Wildlife Corridor restore corridors of conserved lands and waters essential to Florida's diverse wildlife. Different species of wildlife such as the Florida Black Bear and the Florida Panther travel to access different habitats safely. These corridors help ensure long-term survival of wildlife and Florida's waters. Without the protection, portions of the Florida Wildlife Corridors are at risk of fragmentation. Breaking up the FWC would be detrimental to the fresh water resources.

  16. In London, there are homes that have their own wildlife corridors in back.
"At the back of the properties runs a wildlife corridor, which is a strip of land that has been left uncultivated to encourage wildlife and plants to flourish."
They aren't designed for any particular species, but they're still cool. ~Scott Jensen

  18. The Liberty Cannon Wildlife Corridor is a way to help save the mountain lions and cougars who cross Highway 101 in the Santa Monica Mountains and Los Angeles area. Only a few to none have succeeded the crossing and when the Liberty Cannon Wildlife Crossing is built on one of the last undeveloped parts of the highway, they say it will be the "largest such crossing in the world, and a model for urban wildlife conservation". -Tatum

  20. Issaquah will use a grant to buy 40 acres of forest in the Cougar Mountain Squak Mountain Wildlife Corridor. The land is in the middle of King County Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park and Squak Mountain State Park. The wildlife corridor makes a natural area for animals to move between Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park and Squak Mountain State Park. The larger natural areas have many different kinds of animals. The animals are black bears, cougars, deer, coyotes, raccoons, squirrels, and Neotropical songbirds.

  21. Pacific Ocean Corridors:
Similar to terrestrial ecosystems like the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, marine ecosystems can support naturally occurring corridors within the larger expanse of the ocean. In the Pacific Ocean, two main corridors are used by marine wildlife: the California Current, which flows south along west coast of North America, and a trans-oceanic corridor called the North Pacific Transition Zone, which forms the border between cold sub-Arctic waters and warmer subtropical waters.

  22. Florida wildlife corridor:
Their goal is to protect, connect and restore conserved lands and water, to help Florida's diverse wildlife thrive. This ensures the survival of many species and also the overall health of the ecosystem. Without these connections of lands the mobility of wildlife decreases. This restricts breeding oppertunities which lowers species diversity. Wildlife corridors are important because we need to make sure to keep lands connected to continue the health of our waters that sustain us, the farms that feed us, and the forests that clean our air.
The species that would benefit from the corridor are the Florida black bear and Florida panther.
